Your payment options

Static caravan insurance should be simple. That’s why we make payments easy with multiple payment options, such as instalments by direct debit, debit card, credit card, BACS, or bank transfer. You can also spread the cost to make payment more manageable;  we work with Close Brothers Premium Finance to enable you to pay in regular instalments*.

Flexible payment dates, online account management, and credit agreement renewal can make it easier to purchase appropriate protection.

*We work with a third party company called Close Brothers Premium Finance Limited (‘CBL’), which manages instalment payments. We act as a credit broker and we are not a lender. If you have opted to pay by monthly direct debit, we will pass your details to CBL and they will make a credit decision about you, which may include a credit check being carried out. Please let us know immediately if you do not consent to us sharing your details with CBL. If CBL agrees to provide you with credit you will receive a welcome pack including a credit agreement from CBL, which you will need to sign and return to CBL. Please note that CBL has its own set of terms, conditions and charges and you should familiarise yourself with these carefully. We may receive a commission for introducing you to CBL. Paying by monthly direct debit via CBL will cost more than paying by one off payment. As part of your premium finance journey, Close Brothers will provide you with a commission disclosure detailing the commission we earn. You will have 12 days to review this information and provide your consent. If you decide not to consent to the commission amount, Close Brothers will be unable to process your loan, and you will need to arrange to pay the balance in full.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Read some common questions about static caravan insurance, which will help you better understand your cover options. Please note that these Frequently Asked Questions are not a substitute for the policy wording. For full terms and conditions please see the policy documentation.

Do I need static caravan insurance?

While static caravan insurance isn’t legally required, it’s worth considering. This type of policy can protect you from unexpected costs like damage from storms, fires, or theft. If your static caravan is your holiday home or used for renting out, having insurance can help to protect you if something goes wrong when you’re not there. Plus, many caravan sites insist on having insurance as a condition of keeping your caravan on site.

What’s the difference between static caravan and touring caravan insurance?

Static and touring caravans are insured differently because they’re used in different ways. Static caravans stay in one spot, so insurance can cover things like storm damage and theft when unoccupied. Touring caravans are often on the move, so the insurance can cover accidents while towing as well as damage when parked.

Does the site my caravan is on make a difference?

Yes, where your caravan is located affects your insurance. If it’s in a flood-prone area or somewhere exposed to harsh weather, the risk is higher, which can increase the cost of insurance. Insurance companies also consider site security, such as gates or CCTV.

Is static caravan insurance legally required?

No, there’s no legal requirement to have static caravan insurance. However, it’s a good idea to protect your caravan from costly repairs or replacements due to damage, theft, or accidents. It can also cover liability if someone gets hurt while using your caravan.

Can I get insurance for a static caravan that is my permanent residence?

No, Lifesure doesn’t offer insurance for static caravans used as permanent residences. You can explore our home insurance policies or contact us if you use your static caravan as a permanent residence.

What factors influence the cost of static caravan insurance?

Yes, there are policies designed for older static caravans. These policies often consider the caravan's age and value, offering appropriate cover at an affordable price.

What factors influence the cost of static caravan insurance?

Several things can affect the cost of your static caravan insurance. The age of the caravan, its location, how secure the site is, and any added security features like alarms can all impact the price. How often and for what purpose you use the caravan can also influence costs.

How can I reduce the cost of my static caravan insurance?

To help reduce the cost, you can install extra security measures like alarms or window locks. Choosing a site with better security or lower environmental risks, such as a low flood zone, can also lower your premium. Plus, reducing claims by taking care of your caravan and ensuring it's well-maintained helps keep costs down.
